The Médiathèque (multimedia library) is the only library in Québec specialized in the hotel, food service and tourism sectors . As such, it meets the documentation needs for secondary, college and university education offered at the ITHQ. Its resources and services are available not only to ITHQ students and staff, but also to industry professionals as well as to the general public.
Mandate
The mandate of the Médiathèque, which is closely linked to the ITHQ educational mission, is to collect library resources that support the instruction and training offered at the Institute for consultation purposes. Furthermore, within the scope of its research, consultation and presentation activities, the Médiathèque contributes to educating, informing and promoting reading and the using of different information media.

Opening hours*
- Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
*From mid-May to mid-June, the Médiathèque is open from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. From the end of June until mid-August, it is closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Services offered
The Multimedia Library offers a wide range of services, either in person or on the telephone.
Research support:
- Identification of the appropriate research tools and resources for finding documents
- Location of precise information available in reference materials
- Identification and location of pertinent documents available at the Médiathèque or at ouside sources.
Access to the catalogue:
- The Médiathèque’s catalogue can be consulted on the premises at four computer stations, or by clicking here.
Borrowing documents:
- This service is offered to both ITHQ students and personnel, as well as the general public and to members of the tourism, hotel, and foodservice industries.

Inter-library loans:
- Exclusive to ITHQ students and personnel, this service allows users to obtain magazine articles and documents which are not part of the Médiathèque’s collection.
Audiovisual services:
- The Médiathèque’s audiovisual services include:
- five VHS-viewing stations;
- one 8mm video-viewing station;
- two multimedia stations;
- two slide-projector stations;
- two slide-viewing tables;
- three audiovisual equipped meeting rooms;
- four computer stations equipped with internet and CD-ROM access;
- one computer station reserved for consulting the Médiathèque’s catalogue.
