Constructed in the late 1950's, Place Ville Marie marked a revolution in modern building methods using portable cranes rising with the structure. It was also the beginning of modern architecture in the city. When seen from the air, the central building looks like a cross representing the Virgin Mary. Inside the building is home to many different categories. There are commercial offices, banks, shops, and restaurants. There is even the 737 terrace on the roof. The main level of this complex features many different shops and services and is connected to the Underground City.
