Freeman Dre like to spin a talet, voted best songwriter in NOW magazine’s 2010 reader’s poll; his musical narratives are full of vivid wordplay and rhapsodic rhyme schemes that immediately command attention.
His debut ‘Red Door Second Floor’ won accolades from the likes of BBC, CBC, No Depression, and fans in their home of Toronto and abroad.
His 2012 sophomore album, 'Old Town', a self- produced 10-song effort, recorded at Dale Morningstar’s Gas Station studio on Toronto Island, follows a loose conceptual arc; an immigration story, telling a multi-generational family history through a first person narrative,
Kitchen Party provide the sound track.
Whether appearing as a stripped down ensemble on the lucrative house gig circuit, ripping up the stage in Toronto, New York City, Montreal, or throwing down for growing crowds as part of the Fedora Upside Down collective, these Parkdale boys deliver a heartfelt good time, and set the perfect harmonic backdrop for Freeman Dre's charming vocal adventures.
