In 1904 a hospital called the Children's Memorial Hospital opened its doors to the public. Seen as a bilingual institution, it was the first hospital in Montreal with the sole purpose to take care of sick children. In 1956, the hospital was expanding and moved to its current location and became The Montreal Children's Hospital. In 2000, the Montreal Children's Hospital delivered the first baby in Quebec using a procedure called EXIT (ex-utero intrapartum treatment). In 2004, the hospital celebrated its 100 years of existence in helping care for sick children. In the years to come, a new state of the art hospital will be built as part of McGill's University Health Center.
